Monday - Friday 9a-5:30p @ 8405 Beverly blvd, 90048.
First 90 days are fully on site for training, then will work hybrid: 2 days on site, 3 days remote
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Processes New Referral requests for authorization utilizing e-referral application(s) and tracking in Epic electronic health record (EHR).
- Manages referral life cycle from open to close in assigned Work Queue (WQ).
- Review referrals for completeness and follow up for additional information if necessary.
- Follows-up on results, denials, and deferred referrals proceeding a new referral request in the work queue, which may include communication with the patient, specialist, IPA, or external agencies involved with the patient care to identify the status of referral and document progress in patients record.
- Managing the referral life cycle in person, over the phone, email, and Epic (In basket) correspondence.
- Assist patients with questions and status of referral authorization.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor
Position Requirements:
- Prior experience in a health care setting that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.
- 2 years experience in referral processing.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook, internet-based applications).
- Working knowledge of insurances and eligibility.
- Experience with EPIC and EHR preferred.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT codes and identify treatment plan and reason for referral.
- Experience with Pediatrics and Womens Health Preferred.
