BESS Technician

Saber Power Services, LLC, (SPS) located in Houston, TX is a nationally recognized full service, EPC, specialty engineering, procurement, construction and testing and commissioning company specializing in complex medium and high voltage electrical infrastructure in North America.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Technician in Houston, TX to support the installation, maintenance, and operation of large-scale battery storage systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical systems, experience with battery storage technologies, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities :

Install, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and related equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance on BESS, including inspecting electrical systems, performing diagnostics, and calibrating equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical issues with BESS, ensuring proper functionality and minimizing downtime.
Monitor system performance and ensure optimal operation of the storage units.
Assist with integration of BESS into larger energy systems, including solar or wind power facilities.
Respond to emergency maintenance calls and perform necessary repairs on short notice.
Follow safety protocols and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and industry best practices.
Document all work performed, including maintenance records, troubleshooting logs, and system performance reports.
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to optimize system performance and support project goals.
Stay up to date on the latest BESS technologies and industry trends.

Qualifications :

Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.

2 years of experience working with electrical systems, preferably in renewable energy or battery storage.

Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or similar technologies is highly preferred.

Strong knowledge of electrical wiring, schematics, and troubleshooting techniques.

Familiarity with energy management systems, inverters, and power electronics.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work in various weather conditions and in physically demanding environments.

Willingness to travel to various job sites as required.

Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Skills :

Experience with energy storage software systems.

Knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as NEC, IEEE, and OSHA.

OSHA 10 / 30, NFPA70e, and First Aid / AED / CPR as preferred certifications.
