Saber Power Services, LLC, (SPS) headquartered in Houston, TX is a nationally recognized full service, EPC, specialty engineering, procurement, construction and testing and commissioning company specializing in complex medium and high voltage electrical infrastructure in North America.
Saber Power Services is seeking a skilled Certified Aluminum Welder to join our team. This role is responsible for performing high-quality aluminum welding on electrical infrastructure components, including substation structures, transmission towers, and other critical high-voltage equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience working in the power industry and be proficient in various welding techniques, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG) welding on aluminum components for high-voltage electrical projects.
- Fabricate and repair substation and transmission structures, buswork, enclosures, and support structures.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding specifications to ensure precise execution.
- Conduct quality inspections to verify weld integrity and compliance with industry codes (AWS D1.2, ASME, etc.).
- Operate and maintain welding equipment, tools, and machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
- Adhere to all OSHA, company, and industry safety standards, including PPE and fire prevention measures.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions at high-voltage substations and transmission sites.
- Collaborate with engineers, field technicians, and project managers to meet project deadlines.
Qualifications:
- Certified Aluminum Welder (AWS D1.2 or equivalent certification preferred).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience welding aluminum in industrial, power, or high-voltage environments.
- Proficiency in GTAW (TIG) and GMAW (MIG) welding techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding procedures.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on precision and quality control.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces as required for substation and transmission projects.
- Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in high-voltage EPC, utility, or power generation projects.
- Additional welding certifications for stainless steel, copper, or structural steel.
- Familiarity with NERC, IEEE, and NEC standards for power industry welding applications.
