BESS Operations Supervisor
Saber Power Services, LLC, (SPS) located in Houston, TX is a nationally recognized full service, EPC, specialty engineering, procurement, construction and testing and commissioning company specializing in complex medium and high voltage electrical infrastructure in North America.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated BESS Operations Supervisor to perform BESS testing, maintenance, repair, and commissioning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Schedule day to day technician work activities and keep scheduling system up to date with manpower, equipment and material.
- Work with the sales and estimating teams to deliver the best customer experience possible.
- Review client quotes for scope, manpower, material/equipment and cost.
- Reach out to client to compare quote to expectations.
- Use contacts and experience to secure more clients
- Serve as project manager for field service jobs
- Manage hours quoted vs. scheduled
- Ensure lead technicians and team have everything they need to complete the job.
- Work with procurement to ensure POs have been issued.
- Work with equipment specialists to verify material/equipment has arrived.
- Ensure all out of scope work has been captured during the job and change orders have been created and signed.
- Coordinate movement of all material, equipment and manpower if job is rescheduled or canceled.
- Follow the job to completion.
- Confirm all project documentation is submitted in a timely manner to the appropriate Saber team members.
- Confirm the preliminary and final job reports are completed and submitted to the client in a timely manner.
- Confirm all equipment/material is returned in a timely manner.
- Work with the field service and accounting teams to ensure all costs have been captured.
- Approve technicians’ hours and ensure they correlate with hours worked and are being charged to the correct job number.
- Perform bi-monthly safety audits on field service jobsites.
- Review and analyze your departments’ P&L. Identify concerns, discrepancies and trends; identify recommendations to address areas of concerns and implement those recommendations and/or seek the necessary approvals if required.
- Perform key business development activities to assist the sales team in growing sales and developing customer relationships and job opportunities.
- Proactively plan the workforce needs of the branch to effectively meet the current, future and ongoing workloads.
- Monitor the quality of work production and ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are being followed and ensure that quality issues are quickly addressed.
- Work with other branch/department managers in the coordination of customer solutions, to serve customers’ needs company wide.
- Review and monitor KPIs including but not limited to weekly job reviews, utilization, report completion, technician training/development, technician reviews, job budgets, turnover ratio and safety performance.
- Assist senior management as need and all other assigned tasks.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Above average written, oral and report capabilities are required
- Excellent ability to review and understand electrical prints, drawings and work scopes
- Proven experience scheduling and managing resourcing (including people/staffing, equipment, financial, shared services)
- Proven experience growing and managing a BESS division
Education and/or Work Experience:
- AAS in Electrical or Electronics Technology, BSEE, BSEET or equivalent experience in the BESS industry.
- 7 years of professional experience in testing & commissioning BESS Equipment, including functional testing and commissioning of Batteries, SCADA, Fire suppression, HVAC, and associated equipment.
