Saber Power Services, LLC, (SPS) headquartered in Houston, TX is a nationally recognized full service, EPC, specialty engineering, procurement, construction and testing and commissioning company specializing in complex medium and high voltage electrical infrastructure in North America.
Saber Power Services seeks a Subcontracts Manager to oversee the procurement, negotiation, and management of subcontractors for complex substation and transmission projects. Ensures timely delivery, compliance with contract terms, and optimal performance of subcontractors while maintaining quality, safety, and cost control standards.
JOB SUMMARY:
The EPC Subcontract Manager is responsible for overseeing the subcontracting process for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects. This includes identifying and selecting subcontractors, negotiating contracts, managing subcontractor performance, and ensuring compliance with project requirements. The EPC Subcontract Manager will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that subcontracted work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Solicit proposals and identify qualified subcontractors for the planning and execution phases of projects.
- Evaluate subcontractor proposals, negotiate contract terms and conditions, and submit a summary of all proposals to Saber executives for review
- Create, issue and manage Saber Power subcontracts
- Manage subcontractor relationships and performance throughout the project lifecycle
- Monitor subcontractor progress and ensure that work is completed in accordance with project requirements
- Resolve any issues or disputes that arise with subcontractors
- Ensure compliance with project safety, quality, and environmental requirements
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to subcontracting activities
- Ensure all Subcontract Agreements, Certificate of Insurance, and required safety documents on file are up to date
- Review subcontractor invoices to confirm material and equipment was performed and correct charges invoiced
- Work with Project Management to fulfill subcontracts needs for their respective project(s).
- Create subcontracts to mitigate risk
- Perform other job-related duties as requested by management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is required; equivalent years of experience in subcontract management may substitute formal education
- Minimum 5 years of experience in subcontract management for EPC projects required
- Strong knowledge of construction contracting practices and procedures
- Professional certifications such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM) preferred
- Skills:
- Intermediate skill level with MS Office Suite, including strong Excel skills
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and other stakeholders
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards
