Sabre’s Application Security partners with engineering and product teams during the software development lifecycle to help drive security initiatives. We are looking for an intern candidate with a preferred background in software development who is interested in Cyber Security and is looking to improve their skills. We take part in providing support to our developers during testing, leading workshops to spread our love of security, and taking pride in coding and creating in-house security tools. The Application Security Intern will report to the Application Security Manager in Sabre’s Risk and Security organization. The ideal candidate is looking for a growth opportunity in the field of Application Security. You will engage your skills with a team of dedicated applications security professionals, learning and improving our security processes to further secure our organization

- Under general direction from the Application Security manager, the Application Security Specialist will:
- Code and help develop in-house application security projects.
- Aid in remediation and/or mitigation of systems/application vulnerabilities, review application mitigation proposals, and work on application security program automation efforts
- Onboard, test, operate, and analyze information security tools/systems for application vulnerabilities following established standards and baselines (OWASP, SANS, CERT, etc.)
- Coordinate with development teams, DevOps, or third parties to conduct application security testing throughout the SDLC (Secure Development Life Cycle) and CI/CD cycles
- Effectively collaborate with 3rd party resources or vendors to accomplish objectives
- Support and provide accurate and factual metrics & reporting to the team lead, director, developers, and application owners
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent with a graduation date later than August 2024
- The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, critical thinker, who is a continuous learner and has the following preferred general knowledge and skills:
- Familiarity with security terminology and vulnerability bug classes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- General understanding of software design
- Familiarity with OWASP standards
