Scope of Responsibility:
The Cad technician uses AutoCAD Mechanical and Inventor to create design plans for Sabre Industries shelters, utility structures, skids, platforms and mechanical parts. Essentially the CAD technician’s role involves creating electronic versions of technical drawings for the production of our shelters.
Essential Duties:
- Operate CAD software to produce designs, working drawings, charts, forms and records
- Coordinate structural, electrical and mechanical designs and determine a method of presentation to graphically represent shelter plans
- Layout and plan interior room arrangements with the help of the Designer using AutoCAD software
- Determine procedures and instructions to be followed, according to design specifications and quantity of required materials
- Create blocks from specifications sheets as required
- Setup viewports for details as required
- Adhere to drafting standards set by the engineering department
Education/Training/Certifications
Drafting and Design Degree or related field
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in 2D or 3D drafting using Autodesk products
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical drawings
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology this includes applying principals, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
- Knowledge of arithmetic, fractions, algebra, geometry and their applications
- Knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware, and software including applications such as AutoCAD 2017 edition or later or Inventor 2017 edition or later
- Must have excellent listening skills and be able to follow instructions
- Must have excellent math skills
- Must have active learning skills
- Must have the ability to see details within close range (within a few feet of the observer)
- Must have the ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are rearranged
- Must have the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
- Must have the ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
- Must be detail oriented
- Regular and on-time attendance
- Work your shift as scheduled
- Work well with coworkers
- Additional duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work overtime as required
