Scope of Responsibility:
This position is responsible for evaluating the strategic needs of the business as relative to resource planning and developing strategic schedules to optimize manpower, machinery, and materials utilization while ensuring the timely completion of established priorities as defined by customer requirements.
Essential Duties:
- Develop and effectively communicate the Utility Operation master schedule and operational plan using ERP data and capacity planning techniques
- Coordinate and communicate daily/weekly/monthly production work priorities/schedules and revisions as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements across seven Utility Manufacturing facilities
- Act as a mentor/coach to site specific scheduling teams
- Monitors performance towards established production plans and communicates relevant project information to other departments as appropriate
- Resolve schedule conflicts as they arise and prepare project recovery schedules as needed
- Develop and manage capacity planning (manpower, machinery, and materials) and scheduling tools to help identify capacity constraints via S&OP (Sales & Operation Planning process)
- Ownership of the connection between the S&OP process and the Master Production Schedule (MPS)
- Monitors forward load reports and schedules to recommend overtime and staffing levels for affected work areas
- Coordinate multi-site production between locations/divisions within Sabre
- Reports to management and across business functions for routine planning updates as well as anticipated constraints or interruptions in the plan
- Lead weekly cross functional MPS reviews
- Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting to measure actual to planned performance
- Additional duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
- Experience and knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (preferably Epicor Vantage)
- 10 years manufacturing production experience with at least 5 years in production planning/scheduling and prefer 2 years in master scheduling role. Comparable manufacturing experience will be considered.
- APICS certification preferred
- Comfortable and adept in all Microsoft Office applications with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables & VLOOKUP functions). Office based role with majority of time spent communicating and coordinating MPS activities via computer (MS Teams) and phone/email
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the planning and production control fields
- A results-driven attitude with a track record for successful outcomes
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and influence personnel of various levels and disciplines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate objectives and develop recommendations for strategies
- Basic knowledge in reading fabrication prints
- Must be a team player that is willing to cooperate with and consider input from co-workers and members from other areas of the business
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed
Physical Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in work flow and constantly changing priorities.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time with the ability to move throughout the office or outside manufacturing plant as needed.
- Must be able to perform physical activities that require use of fingers, hands and arms, such as sitting, typing, using office equipment and reaching. Some additional physical activities may require walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials.
- Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual.
- Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing as well as answer telephones and greet customers.
