Mechanical Engineer

Sabre Systems, LLC is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our tactical systems development team at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). The chosen candidate will collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers to develop tactical control systems and support our Battle Management Systems (BMS) team.

• Contribute to the design, development, and integration of mechanical components for tactical programs, ensuring compliance with program specifications and relevant standards for environmental protection, EMI/RFI shielding, and physical durability.
• Apply Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and mechanical engineering expertise to create new designs while maintaining and enhancing existing systems, providing both formal and informal feedback to identify improvements in cost-efficiency, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Ensure designs meet industry and government standards (CE, UL) for assigned products and recommend materials based on performance needs, weight constraints, and manufacturability considerations.
• Create models and technical drawings for complex assemblies using CAD software such as SolidWorks.
• Assist with hands-on integration and testing activities.

• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a Department of Defense (DOD) Security Clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Over 8 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling, design, and evaluation tools.
• Preferred qualifications:
• Experience with manufacturing equipment for rapid prototyping, including 3D printers, laser cutters, waterjets, milling machines, hand tools, and similar equipment.
• Familiarity with DOD and NATO standards and certification processes.
• Active DoD Security Clearance is required
• Must be a U.S Citizen
• Selected candidate is required to pass a background investigation
