The Sabre Legal Team is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Principal Paralegal to support the VP attorney with a high volume of global disputes and litigation, fact investigations and interviews, global employment matters, regulatory matters, data preservation, discovery, and other matters, as assigned, including some administrative functions. Support other attorneys and legal department members in privacy, compliance, and cyber security matters.
Responsibilities :
Intake, triage, and manage internal requests / communications regarding active and potential litigation, contract drafting and interpretation, and employment matters on a global scale; monitor, review, and update internal docketing system as appropriate
Research, investigate, and provide other litigation support for potential, pre-suit, and active litigation and other dispute resolution across the globe; obtain and organize relevant contracts and communications to facilitate review and analysis by counsel; effective and efficient collection of relevant information from variety of sources and locations.
Monitor and maintain litigation docket; monitor service of process on Sabre and route filings as appropriate; docket and calendar all deadlines for litigation matters; advise in-house counsel of impending deadlines; maintain matrix of global litigation matters for auditing; conduct and manage discovery / electronic discovery as needed.
Draft and manage litigation holds; conduct interviews / investigate issues as directed; prepare discovery responses, ensuring information provided is accurate and timely; negotiate with / act as point of contact for litigation support vendors; work with vendors and counsel to establish, maintain, search, and code electronic productions; categorize documents, prepare chronologies, and create production charts; create and maintain discovery files; create inventory and maintain chain of custody for all held assets.
Intake, triage, and manage / prepare responses to external information requests including subpoenas, third party discovery requests, small claim court matters, garnishments, and bankruptcy related filings under supervision of counsel.
Research, investigate, and gather relevant information to facilitate counsel’s analysis and review of employment matters on a global scale; identify and communicate with HR partners across the enterprise for relevant information and case monitoring.
Anticipate bottlenecks, identify efficiencies, and resolve matters where appreciate to expedite counsel’s analysis and work on a high volume of matters from across the enterprise on a wide array of subject matters.
Other Duties
Communicate with outside counsel and internal clients; participate in / independently manage special projects; assist counsel with other matters as assigned; prepare and conduct presentations in areas of subject matter expertise; provide support to attorneys in the coordination, implementation, and management of projects, policies, procedures, practices, and training.
Job Requirements
Education : Bachelor’s degree / paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program required
Preferred Experience :
Minimum 10 years’ experience in law firm / in-house legal department providing litigation-related support, with experience in large law firms a plus
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with a wide variety of audiences
Excellent judgment, strategic thinking, problem solving, and attention to detail
Exceptional organization and project management skills, ability to prioritize work, independently drive multiple initiatives to timely conclusion, take initiative, and follow-through skills
Able to meet tight deadlines, efficiently multi-task and present to groups
Proactive, team player, self-motivated, strategic, innovative; uses initiative with little or no direction; highly resourceful to resolve issues in an efficient and effective manner
Able to learn difficult concepts quickly and think creatively to resolve complicated problems
Ability to work equally well in a team or independently
Trial / arbitration support experience is a plus
Paralegal experience with a medium or large law firm – especially for litigation, labor and employment, or employment litigation – is a plus
Fluency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, iManage, litigation / discovery databases and e-billing
Experience with Microsoft Purview and Relativity / RelOne strongly preferred
Able to partner effectively across business units, domestically and internationally; able to quickly build rapport, credibility and trust with business leaders and employees
Manage vendor relationships, negotiate vendor agreements as necessaryPrior experience with legal e-billing, exposure to legal budgeting processes & SharePoint knowledge a plus
