Job Description
Title: Temporary Utility/Grounds
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining building and site cleanliness standards to provide a healthy, safe, and attractive physical environment
- Be available to assist in other areas as needed
- Always follow established safety procedures
- Keep the grounds/fields free from rubbish and weeds.
- Maintain a sense of pride in the areas of responsibility which is presented to the public.
- Make such minor building repairs, as he/she is qualified for
Move equipment and supplies as needed for the proper operation and maintenance of the school
- Perform such yard tasks as grass cutting, tree trimming, and the like, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds/fields in a safe and attractive condition
- Substitute for vacationing utility workers if necessary
- Understand that an occasional need will arise to work a split shift or a weekend activity
Requirements:
- Ability to complete assigned tasks/schedules successfully and promptly
- Ability to see what needs to be done and do it
- Ability to work from/off a ladder/scaffold
- Attend training as needed to maintain or receive certain maintenance licenses
- Be able to lift 50 pounds in the daily performance of the position and an occasional 50-70 pounds
- Compatibility
- Experience in maintenance/custodian field or willingness to learn
- Good attendance work record
- Good health
- High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
- Mechanical aptitude for equipment operation
- Positive attitude
- Possess a valid State of Iowa driver's license
- Reliable
- Self-starter, ability to work alone.
- Must pass a background check in accordance with P.L. 101-630, P.L. 101-647, and the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
Supervision: Supervised by the Facilities Manager
Days and Hours: Monday through Friday. Hours typically from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Subject to change depending on the season and duties assigned.
Subject to working weekends to cover scheduled events within the Settlement School as assigned.
