While our headquarters is in downtown Portland, we maintain a strong and regular presence at our properties.
The opening for which we are currently hiring is Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician assumes responsibility for general building maintenance including preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and completion of work orders. Supervises and assists outside service personnel and vendors as needed. Reports major repair and maintenance needs to the Property Manager.
The Maintenance Technician performs a wide variety of general maintenance tasks and includes rotating 24-hour emergency, on-call maintenance service for apartment buildings. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, property appearance and safety, building and equipment repairs, preventive maintenance procedures, unit turns, cleaning, painting, trash removal, and upkeep of the grounds of the assigned properties.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of one year of responsible experience in building maintenance;
- Painting experience required
- Travel required
- Basic knowledge of power tools, carpentry, plumbing, sheet rock repairs, painting, snow removal, lawn care, electrical repair, and cleaning are required;
- Must be able to provide 24-hour emergency, on-call service at least 1 week per month (after hours calls eligible for time and a half);
- Physical ability to perform the work required; must be capable of using and climbing extension ladder to access roof, window, and siding to make repairs as needed and must be able to lift and carry 50 lb;
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently with minimum supervision;
- Ability to communicate effectively with tenants and staff;
- Ability to represent ownership in a friendly, outgoing, yet professional manner.
- A valid state of Maine driver’s license, a good driving record and a reliable vehicle is required.
- Position involves frequent movement, including walking, standing, bending, twisting, shoveling, reaching and lifting
- Position involves using ladders, backpack vacuums, chemical cleaning solutions, mops, buffers, and lawn care equipment
- Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
