Pre-Kindergarten Long-Term Substitute Teaching Assistant - Immediate Opening

Sacramento Country Day School, a leader in Pre-Kindergarten - 12th grade independent school education since 1964, seeks a full-time long term substitute Pre-K Assistant Teacher for the 2025 school year with an hourly range of $24.50 - $27.50 Hours: 7:45 am-4:15 pm Monday-Friday, during the school year. Teaching assistants support our classroom teachers with the following: Delivering instruction, working with small groups or individuals Monitoring and assisting students in the classroom Supervision at recess and lunch Assisting students with problem solving and conflict resolution Classroom management (including whole class on occasion) Supporting students’ social-emotional growth Organizing and preparing materials and supplies Other duties of a supportive nature in the classroom or playground The successful candidate will have most of the following attributes: Success working with children in a group setting Patience, kindness, and an overtly warm manner with children Ability to set boundaries with children in a firm but loving way Ability to support the social-emotional growth of students and support problem-solving and conflict resolution Ability to run a learning group or activity (typically literacy or numeracy) with direction from the classroom teacher Confidence taking over whole class activities on occasion with a lesson plan from the teacher General Requirements: 12 ECE units School requirements include: Background check, First Aid/CPR training (school sponsored), negative TB result. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40 pounds for tasks such as helping children, setting up equipment, and moving classroom materials. Ability to bend, kneel, squat, and sit on the floor for extended periods to interact with children at their level, assist with activities, and manage circle time.
