POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Volunteer Services Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day facilitation of Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services (SFBFS) volunteers at SFBFS’s Main Campus. He/she will plan and oversee the volunteer activities of groups as well as individuals.
- Greeting, touring, and oversee daily volunteer groups (ranging in size from 2 to 100 people); work with volunteer(s)/group(s) generally occurs in the warehouse and typically may include food sorting/bagging/boxing, cardboard recycling, and cleaning/organization
- Ensure that volunteer groups are engaged in meaningful and impactful projects/activities
- Serve as point of contact for individual volunteers
- Lead daily volunteer meetings at start of shift(s)
- Ensure all volunteers receive orientation and safety training
- Identify or create volunteer opportunities for individuals
- Work in predominately in warehouse environment on daily basis
· Operate warehouse equipment; in a safe manner
· Other duties as assigned
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in social science, business, or related field
- Minimum of one year of volunteer coordination or related experience
- Prior experience with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, Access, and PowerPoint
- Basic principles of volunteer management in a non-profit setting
- Ability to work within a diverse community of individuals
- Prior experience in both giving tours of facilities and train large groups
POSITION DETAILS
· Full-time, non-exempt position; Monday – Friday (then Tues – Sat.); occasional weekends and holidays as needed
· SFBFS’ Food Bank Services campus location
