Position Summary
The Systems Administrator (SYSADM), reports to the Information Technology Manager. The Systems Administrator specializing in Cybersecurity and Networking is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing an organization's network and IT infrastructure. The role combines system administration tasks with a focus on cybersecurity to ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of systems and data, VOIP, wireless and other communications technologies. You will help determine hardware, software, and data needs and make recommendations based on this information. You will provide second-level customer service support for routers, switches, firewalls, servers, desktop computers and peripheral equipment (including but not limited to printers, scanners, signature tablets, monitors, etc.), troubleshooting software and network problems reported through the Help Desk ticket system, and provide general second level hands-on support with connections and interfaces and their operations.

Essential Functions
- Network Management:
- Manage, configure, and monitor local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and VPNs.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of network services, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Optimize network performance, troubleshoot network issues, and resolve connectivity problems.
- Maintain network documentation, including topologies and network inventories.
- System Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, storage, and other critical infrastructure.
- Perform regular system backups and recovery procedures.
- Monitor system performance and apply patches, updates, and configurations to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot system issues and resolve technical problems related to both hardware and software.
- Cybersecurity:
- Implement and manage security protocols, firewalls, encryption technologies, and antivirus software to safeguard systems and networks.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and security audits to identify and address security gaps.
- Ensure compliance with security policies, standards, and regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Manage identity and access management (IAM) solutions, including user authentication, privilege management, and role-based access controls.
- Respond to and investigate security incidents, identifying root causes and applying corrective actions.
- Incident Response and Disaster Recovery:
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Ensure systems are protected from data breaches, malware, ransomware, and other cyber threats.
- Respond promptly to cybersecurity incidents and mitigate risks to the organization’s IT infrastructure.
- Automation & Scripting:
- Develop automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) to improve efficiency in system administration tasks and security procedures.
- Automate routine tasks, including system monitoring, updates, and patch management.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Provide technical support to internal teams, ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Work closely with IT, DevOps, and security teams to ensure the secure configuration of systems and networks.
- Conduct training and awareness sessions on security best practices and policies for staff.
- Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor network and system logs to identify potential security threats.
- Create and maintain regular reports on system health, network performance, and security incidents.
- Maintain an inventory of IT assets, ensuring proper documentation for auditing and compliance.
