A reasonable estimate of the current range is $135,240 to $182,972.
Position Summary :
The Sacramento Native American Health Center, Inc. provides medical services to Native Americans and low-income people of all ages. The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician's Assistant (PA) coordinates and provides primary health care to individuals and families including disease prevention, health education, and treatment for acute and chronic problems in a patient centered environment. The FNP / PA works under the direct supervision of the Medical Director.
Essential Functions :
- Practices within the scope of the California Board of Registered Nursing and / or Physician's assisting practices and under the oversight of the Supervising Provider and Medical Director, and within organizational guidelines.
- Coordinates assessment, treatment and management of patients through consultation with the supervising physician and other care providers to facilitate comprehensive patient care plans.
- Conducts labs, referrals and appropriate assessments of patients including history taking and physical examination consistent with scope of practice department protocol.
- Diagnoses or treats acute health care problems; illnesses, infections and injures.
- Analyzes and interprets patients' histories, symptoms, physical findings or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses.
- Provides health care screenings for both preventative health and chronic conditions.
- Counsels and educates patients regarding reproductive health, preventative health, chronic conditions, disease prevention and pediatric health.
- Prescribes appropriate medications (dosage and route) utilizing best practices and under the direction of the staff physician.
- Detects and respond to adverse drug reactions, with special attention to vulnerable populations such as infants, children, pregnant and lactating women and other adults.
- Orders, perform or interpret the results of diagnostic tests such as complete blood counts (CBCs), electrocardiograms (EKGs) and radiographs (x-rays).
- Provides comprehensive family planning services for men and women including initiation of oral, injectable and indwelling contraception, performs insertion of intrauterine devices, fits diaphragms, and allocates over the counter barrier methods as needed.
- Educates and counsels adolescents and adults in maturational changes, sexuality, contraception, pregnancy, abortion and family stress in the clinical setting and in groups as needed.
- Coordinates care with ancillary providers, clinics and hospitals.
- Assists with daily clinic activities including patient flow, triage (i.e., walk-ins and telephone contacts), patient emergencies, health records flow and laboratory / x-ray / consultation / referral services.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
- Documents in E.H.R. physical findings, formulates plan / prognosis based on patient's condition and follow-up with patient in an accurate, timely way.
- Establishes and maintains communication with other health care providers and departments to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness and to promote consistency and continuity of care.
- Compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, as they pertain to position including; HIPAA, sexual harassment, scope of practice, OSHA, etc.
