General Summary :
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Facilities Manager oversees a wide range of professional work including the design, maintenance, and logistics of Facilities in support of SSPCA programs and services. The Facilities Manager also serves as a liaison between campus infrastructure (i.e. facilities, grounds and maintenance, public safety, etc.), SSPCA Leadership Team, and vendors to facilitate effective campus operations and programs. This individual will have the ability to see the broadest possible view of an issue or challenge as well as the impacts of those issues and challenges from a narrower, department level perspective.
This role requires the ability to understand facility and equipment maintenance services and future needs, as well as communicate with staff and vendors to problem-solve, maintain, and improve buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position will also coordinate and, at times, may assist with building and grounds maintenance, including but not limited to roofing, landscaping, electrical, plumbing, and heating / cooling systems. Due to the nature of the position, the Facilities Manager will be required to oversee aspects of employee requisitions and logistics of repairs or maintenance.
Essential Job Functions :
- Supervises Facilities staff, including prioritizing workload, and writing and delivering performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Oversees daily operations of campus facilities, including monitoring and inspecting all buildings, grounds, and equipment, ensuring that utility systems are fully operational and that preventive maintenance schedules are being followed.
- Coordinates, schedules, monitors progress, and communicates concerns and impacts of routine and emergency repairs and maintenance, facilities services, and building renovations.
- Manages facilities service contracts, including building and maintaining vendor relationships.
- Manages the purchase of maintenance and janitorial products, as well as non-computer-related office equipment and furniture.
- Analyzes existing facilities services compared with organizational and departmental needs, plans, and budgets. Regularly participates in meetings with staff and shares ideas to improve facilities in support of SSPCA programs and services. Researches, organizes, and implements new and / or modified systems accordingly.
- Performs risk assessments and develops response strategies.
- Plans for and manages the budget for facilities services, maintenance, building renovations, capital equipment, and space allocations in support of SSPCA operations.
- Compiles, analyzes and researches data for special projects and reporting.
- Manages vehicle fleet.
