Sacred Circle Healthcare is seeking a full-time, Director of Behavioral Health, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Job Summary

General Summary of Duties : The Behavioral Health Director (BHD) is responsible for the direction and leadership of operational, financial, and programmatic activities related to the delivery of Sacred Circle Healthcare Behavioral Health and Substance Use Disorder services. While the range of duties and responsibilities is broad, ensuring high quality services are provided in accordance with SCHC’s, goals, mission, as well as all compliance regulations and requirements is a priority. The BHD will carry an average of 13-15 clinical hours per week.

Director responsibilities :

Serves as the programmatic and operational leader for BH and SUD, under the direction of the Strategy Officer.
Develops and manages operational initiatives with measurable outcomes.
Ensures compliance with State and Federal regulations, IHS standards, AAAHC requirements and compliance.
Monitors and analyzes financial data and utilizes this data for decision making and providing guidance to managers to effectively set program priorities, goals and objectives.
Provides guidance and development of leadership skills to BH & SUD Clinic Managers to ensure overall effectiveness of leadership.
Ensures newly hired BH team members are well trained and prepared by overseeing the transition from HR onboarding to the BH department.
Facilitates regular department meetings and maintains records related to operations that are complete, accurate, available and in compliance with all legal, regulatory, and policy requirements.
Partners with HR to select top talent, matching BH & SUD Services’ needs with appropriate skill sets.
Oversees the student clinical internship program and policy.
Partners with the Division Officer to create work-flows and policies and procedures that are efficient and effective for the entire clinic.
Ensures clinic crisis and de-escalation services are supportive and effective.
Ensures all department timekeeping, scheduling and coverage is maintained and managed according to policy.
Participates in interdisciplinary meetings including Circle of Care, Department Head, Care Coordination and other requested and required meetings.
Ensures ethical conduct by clinical staff.
Plans yearly BH retreat and training.
Ensures BH & SUD are partnering with the SCHC Marketing and Outreach departments for regular posts, videos and articles for social media, newsletters.
Supports implementation of wellness with programs and agencies.
Works in collaboration with the Cultural Specialist team to ensure cultural care is incorporated into clinical treatment model.
Collaborates with the Cultural Connections team to ensure cultural care is incorporated into clinical programming.
Supports agency development and leadership as necessary.

Clinical Supervisor Responsibilities :

Provides clinical charting standards and requirements in the BH department and documents oversight process.

Performs chart audits and communicates results of audits to staff and administration.

Models and prioritizes clinical practices that are centered and grounded in patient care

Oversees BH Clinical Staff meetings ensuring staffing, dx, treatment planning, documentation, termination, and referrals occurs according to policy and best practices.

Reviews BH team compliance reporting ensuring clinical team members are in compliance with all state licensing regulations, I.H.S. standards, Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) requirements, and AAAHC standards regarding service delivery and documentation.

Conducts regular one-on-one supervision and clinical guidance with individual team members, when needed.

Clinical Provider Responsibilities :

Conducts intake assessments to gather, analyze, and evaluate psycho-social data according to policy and procedures.

Provides mental health counseling to children, adults, couples, and groups. May be requested to provide counseling at the Reservation in Ibapah, UT as needed, according to policy and procedures.

Coordinates care of patients with primary care providers regarding psychotropic medication needs.

Provides BH interventions related to a variety of diagnostic needs.

Creates case conceptualization based on appropriate diagnosis and best treatment standards, presents the findings at Clinical Case Staff meetings, documents peer feedback and includes feedback into case conceptualization.

Participates in collaborative treatment planning with patients.

Completes clinical documentation and Incorporates treatment goals and objectives according to policy and procedures

Evaluates outcome data and the therapeutic relationship to ensure services are delivered in an effective manner.

Participates in crisis and de-escalation services for the clinic, patients, and staff as needed.

Maintains licensure and strict patient confidentiality.

Reads, understands, and adheres to all Sacred Circle Health Care policies and procedures and adheres to the Code of Conduct, mission and values.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION :

Master’s of Social Work (MSW)

EXPERIENCE :

5 years of clinical management experience,

5 years of BH leadership position in a clinical outpatient setting

Experience working with the Native American community.

CERTIFICATION / LICENSE :

LCSW

Other :

Experience working in an outpatient health organization

Experience working with a diverse and / or underserved category.

Strong leadership skills, including the ability to manage in a client focused and SCHC mission centered manner

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Commitment to staying up to date on mental health counseling best practices.

Broad knowledge of modern health care administration practices and principles within a managed care environment and / or an academic medical center.

Effective analytical ability to develop and analyze options, recommend solutions to, and solve complex problems and issues.

Demonstrated effective leadership and administration of clinical operations.

Ability to operate methodically in high pressure situations.

Proven history of working professionally and collaboratively across disciplines.

Knowledge of mental health diagnostic, therapeutic models, treatment planning and termination practices.

Expert communication skills including writing, speaking and active listening, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, staff and community.

Ability to successfully handle and train others on crisis and de-escalation interventions.

Proven record of timely and thorough documentation.

Proven ability to execute organizational goals, through planning, execution and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of care.

Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.

Knowledge of SCHC policies, procedures, systems, and objectives with the ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines.

Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of existing methods and procedures.

Ability to work with administration, peers, independently and in a team environment.

Ability to act with a high level of integrity and professionalism.

Ability to effectively present information, and respond to questions from groups of managers, supervisors and employees.

Ability to use computer systems and applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
