Sacred Circle Healthcare is seeking a full-time, Medical Director, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

General Summary of Duties: Responsible for leading the medical providers and the primary care team, ensuring quality and consistent medical care. Additionally, responsible for the management of medical care for patients to include the provision of medical treatment and advice to patients as indicated. Responds to emergencies, encourages health maintenance, and monitors patient progress.

Salary:

The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

The successful candidate:

Major Responsibilities/Tasks: Medical Director:

  • Oversees the day-to-day practices of patient care in the primary care department at all sites, either directly or through designation to a medical team lead. This includes psychiatric nurse practitioners, pediatricians, obstetric providers, and specialty providers.
  • Provides direct patient care at the clinic site, expected to be minimum of 20 hours per week.
  • Addresses provider concerns and involves medical officer when appropriate.
  • Works with MA managers, medical support staff director, care coordinators and clinic managers to collaborate on primary care needs.
  • Leads monthly primary care provider meetings, plans the provider retreat, and organizes and plans other team meetings as needed.
  • Collaborates with other departments at Sacred Circle Healthcare
  • Develops policies, processes and protocols specific to the primary care team
  • Approves requested time off for providers at the clinic site and ensures there is adequate coverage.
  • Ensures the quality of patient care. Provides chart review through the peer review process and as needed based on the providers’ needs
  • Meets regularly with each direct report one on one and conducts the annual reviews for the providers at the clinic site in conjunction with the medical team lead.
  • Oversees providers with special projects, including education and quality coordinator and ECW provider specialist.
  • Meets with the medical officer regularly to assess the needs of the primary care department.
  • Participates in and Chairs the Credentialing Committee. Meet with committee as needed to review provider(s) files being presented for approval for credentialing and privileging at Sacred Circle Healthcare

Major Responsibilities/Tasks: Provider responsibilities:

  • Provides direct patient care within the scope of primary medicine.
  • Examines, diagnoses, and treats acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Cultivates a climate of trust and compassion for patients.
  • Conducts routine check-ups on patients to assess their health condition and discover possible issues.
  • Reaches an informed diagnosis based on scientific knowledge and patient’s medical history.
  • Orders or executes various tests, analysis, and diagnostic imaging to provide information on patient’s condition.
  • Prescribes medications and provides comprehensive instructions for administration.
  • Works continually to assure deliverance of quality clinical care in a safe, efficient, competent, and effective manner.
  • Responsible for accurate, timely, and complete documentation in patient records.
  • Follow up on patient care as indicated.

General Position Responsibilities:

  • Reads, understands, and adheres to all Sacred Circle Health Care Policies and Procedures.
  • Practices and adheres to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Values Statements.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION:

Doctor of Medicine (MD); Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.), Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner able to lead providers in care for adults, pediatrics, and obstetrics

EXPERIENCE:

M.D., D.O,, PA-C, or FNP with 5 years of directly related experience which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty.

Experience in leadership, supervising or management for 2 years.

Other:

BLS Certificate

Have and maintain DEA Certificate

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of common medication, side effects, and contraindications.
  • Knowledge of examination methodologies and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of infectious diseases, their symptoms, and epidemiology.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of care.
  • Knowledge of legal medical guidelines and medicine best practices.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, systems and objectives.
  • Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patient in correct usage.
  • Skills in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, clinical and administrative staff, and the public.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and policies and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Ability to plan and organize.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high pressure and emergency situations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and self-direct.
