FLSA STATUS: Part-time Non Exempt. May be full-time if paired with other available role(s)
EFFECTIVE DATE: 2025-26 school year
COMPENSATION: $9,000-$11,000 per season
Position Summary:
The Head Boys Basketball Coach is a seasonal part time position. Its primary function is to coach the SHC Boys Varsity Basketball Team. The role is responsible for character development and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in basketball.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the mission and policies of SHC and the charisms of the Daughters of Charity and De La Salle Christian Brothers through active mission and Catholic formation.
- Plan, organize, and oversee the SHC Boys Basketball program.
- Models good sportsmanship behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards opposing team, fans, parents, officials, spectators and community.
- Work closely with the Athletic Director(s) to hire qualified assistant coaches.
- Demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team development.
- Ensures that team rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility of the athletes are clearly communicated and followed.
- Consults with the Athletic Director(s) on regular basis.
- Participates in all required coaches, student athlete and parent meetings scheduled by the Athletic Directors.
- Creates a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Maintains Strong Interpersonal Skills.
- Works directly with school athletic trainers in reporting injuries, teaching precautions and procedures to ensure staff/student safety and help students prevent injuries.
- Completes Required forms and documents in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
