Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory (SHC) is a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic, co-educational college preparatory secondary school located in the heart of San Francisco, California. Position Summary
The Transformational Coaching Initiative (TCI) is a Lasallian Vincentian program centered on developing educators, including faculty, staff, and athletic coaches, by empowering the inclusive, Catholic community of faith at SHC to elevate and embrace personal and professional growth that fosters student success.
SHC Athletics Partner Coaching Program aims to help eligible athletic coaches continue to grow as professionals. Partner coaches support athletic coaches in setting and achieving goals, developing new skills, and overcoming challenges through a structured process. This non-evaluative relationship focuses on the individual in a professional setting as well as the individual as part of a greater team.
The Partner Coach collaborates with athletic coaches to support them, get a clear picture of current reality, identify goals, outline teaching/coaching strategies to meet the goals, monitor progress, and problem solve until the goals are met. The Partner Coach works with athletic coaches to elevate the student-athlete and coach experience.
A partner coaching cycle is a minimum of eight weeks up to a full athletic season depending on the needs of the individual coachee. A Partner Coach can coach up to two individuals per cycle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Model for students the characteristics of a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic educator;
Promote SHC?s mission, philosophy, and Integral Student Outcomes;
Commit to a full coaching cycle
Provide professional development and ongoing Leadership coaching to athletic coaches in order to reach goals utilizing the Impact Cycle
Works with athletic coaches to improve team management and climate by implementing effective research-based instructional methods, providing site coaching through practice observation, feedback, modeling, and facilitating job shadowing experiences
Demonstrate a proficiency in Instructional Coaching
Demonstrate facility with video and other tools to gather data
Attend Instructional Coaching training
Maintain official coaching logs, document data, and track hours on a weekly basis
Attend and contribute regularly to Instructional Coaching learning team meetings
Maintain confidentiality
Participates in an impact cycle with another SHC Partner Coach, including the use of video recording and reviewing the material with the coach
Reflect on personal growth and needs
Actively seek out additional support
