What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Aftercare Assistant position at Sacred Heart Catholic School?
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
- Aftercare Personnel are responsible for the supervision of students after school. This position is in our Preschool to 1st Grade room and is 3pm-6pm, Monday-Friday.
POSITION CONTENT
- Essential Functions
- Provides supervision for children at all times, maintaining a safe and healthy environment, and is able to offer First Aid when needed.
- Organize and participate in games, reading to the children, and assisting with homework, as needed.
- Interact positively with children and act as an appropriate adult role model.
- Directs children in eating, playing, and toileting.
- Helps children develop habits of caring for their own clothing and picking up and putting away toys and books. Maintains discipline.
- Assists in distributing snacks and cleaning as needed.
- Maintains a classroom environment that is in accord with program goals and philosophy.
- Attends training and staff meetings as required, including for the distribution of food, as taught with Indy Parks.
- Keeps all required records, such as attendance and timesheets.

- Meet Indiana child care agency regulations. Enforce and apply all laws, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.

- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Ability to demonstrate respect for and sensitivity to a diverse population of students, co-workers, parents and others.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Must be able to understand and to comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
- Must be able to successfully complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training
- Background screening required
- One year of experience related to the care of children is preferred.
- Successful completion of pre-employment health screenings as required by law.
