Position: Upper School Mathematics Teacher
Reports to: Head of Upper School
FLSA Status: Exempt
Essential Responsibilities/Capabilities
A master’s degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Financial Mathematics, or a related field, is preferred and 2 years of experience teaching the aforementioned courses to Upper School students. The candidate should be able to provide lesson plans which include the integration of inductive learning. Candidate is energetic, approachable, knowledgeable, and eager to be an active member of a dynamic learning community.

Essential Responsibilities/Capabilities
- Sincere and visible commitment to best mathematical teaching practices and continued professional development
- Genuine passion for and command of subject matter, including Statistics and the sequence of Geometry through Calculus, and enthusiasm for working with high school students
- Specialized knowledge of financial skills, financial technology, and entrepreneurship, with the ability to design a course to provide students with financial literacy for the 21st century
- Experience and demonstrated success in implementing a scaffolded, organized, inquiry-based, student-centered instructional approach
- Instructional design that encourages students to think critically, ask questions, and reason creatively while problem-solving, and inspires confidence in their own abilities
- Learning opportunities to encourage curiosity, exploration, and discovery appropriate to the developmental levels and learning styles of the students
- Diverse strategies and approaches to support all learners through in a caring classroom environment where students learn and interact positively with one another
- Proficiency with current educational technology, especially as part of classroom instruction and for hybrid/distance learning; facility with electronic communication and learning management applications
- Development of formative and summative assessments that portray differentiated approaches to identifying student understanding
- Evaluation of student work that exhibits fairness, consistency, and prompt response to student progress
- Maintain supportive relationships with the student, advisor, parents, and families
- Provide written reports to parents on students’ academic progress, social growth and learning needs at designated times of the year, and meet with parents as necessary
- Engaged participation in the Upper School community, including division and departmental meetings, and assigned non-instructional duties
