Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our new primary care practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, working claims denials and problems, assistance with coding and revenue cycle analysis. Experience with Athena Electronic Medical Record is required. Experience in primary care is desirable. Pay is commensurate with experience. This part-time position will grow along with our practice. Some hours can be done remotely.
Duties
- Prepare and submit accurate medical billing claims to insurance companies and patients.
- Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10 and ICD-9 for diagnosis and procedure coding.
- Review patient medical records to ensure proper documentation and coding accuracy.
- Follow up on unpaid claims, resolving any discrepancies or issues with insurance providers.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and office manager to clarify any questions regarding patient records or billing issues.
- Ensure compliance with all federal regulations and guidelines related to medical billing practices.
- Assist in the management of patient accounts, including adjustments and payment plans.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing or a related field is preferred.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, coding practices, and healthcare regulations.
- Experience with medical records management and electronic health record (EHR) Athena is required.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
- Proficient in using billing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Certification in medical billing or coding is advantageous but not required.
