The School of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales is seeking a lead preschool teacher to work with three- and four-year-olds in a vibrant Catholic educational setting. A lead preschool teacher is responsible for designing and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for young children, overseeing a team of assistant teachers, actively engaging with students in learning activities, maintaining a safe and nurturing classroom environment, and communicating regularly with parents regarding their child's progress and development; requiring strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for early childhood education. Key responsibilities may include: Curriculum development: Creating and implementing lesson plans aligned with early childhood education standards, incorporating diverse learning activities across developmental areas like cognitive, social, emotional, and physical. Classroom management: Maintaining a positive and structured learning environment, managing student behavior, and ensuring children's safety. Instructional delivery: Leading small and large group activities, providing individualized support to children based on their needs, and incorporating developmentally appropriate practices. Staff supervision: Delegating tasks, providing guidance and feedback to assistant teachers and aides, and ensuring consistent implementation of the curriculum. Parent communication: Regularly communicating with parents through conferences, newsletters, and daily updates regarding their child's progress, development, and any concerns. Assessment and observation: Conducting ongoing observations of children's development, documenting progress, and using data to inform instruction. Collaboration: Working with other staff members to ensure a cohesive learning environment and share best practices. Required qualifications: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field Valid teaching license or credential as required by state regulations Proven experience working with young children in a preschool setting Knowledge and understanding of Catholic values Strong leadership and organizational skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with children, parents, and colleagues Knowledge of child development theories and best practices in early childhood education
