Assistant Professor – Sport Communication & Media
Sacred Heart University is seeking a dynamic instructor and experienced professional to join our Sport Communication and Media programs as an assistant teaching professor or assistant professor of practice. This position involves teaching and service in sports communication and media at both undergraduate and master's levels. The successful candidate will bring a rich background in sports communication and media, and a proven track record of excellence in teaching. An interest in program development and administration is also a bonus.
Responsibilities
Teach courses in sports media and sports communication
Supervise and mentor students in both theoretical and practical aspects of sports communication and media.
Oversee student projects, productions and publications related to sports communication and media.
Participate in departmental and university service activities, including committee work and community engagement.
Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in communication, media or journalism, or a related field, and 10 years of industry experience is required.
A master's degree or PhD in communication, media or journalism, or a related field is preferred.
Some combination of professional experience in the sports media industry and/or experience producing multimedia sports content such as news stories, live broadcasts, or studio shows
Demonstrated success in teaching at the college level, with a strong pedagogical foundation in sports media and communication.
Experience in overseeing student and/or professional projects, productions or publications
