Please read entire job description before applying. These are Material Handler and Industrial Painter positions for a construction steel manufacturing company. It's a great company to work for, but it is NOT climate controlled. Please only apply if that is not an issue. We only have night shift and weekend shifts available.
Job Overview
Moves materials from pre-fabrication departments to fab shops in a safe and efficient manner. Places materials for fit up in rough positions for fabricators. Moves materials to fab shops based on shipping schedule and other priorities. Expedites materials for quick shipment and rework due to quality issues.
Night Shift: 4:30pm to 3:00am Monday – Thursday
Weekend Shift: 6:00am to 6:30pm Friday, Sat. & Sun.
Pay: $17.00 to start, full-time hire after 90 days if performance and attendance is good. At that time you will receive a pay increase and benefits. Night shift adds $1.50 premium. Weekend shift adds $2.00 premium.
Must be able to pass a drug test and criminal background report for the past 7 years. No felony convictions in 7 years/Misdemeanors are approved case by case.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Kit Detail Material
o Bring in detail material for main members
o Place detail material near the final location on the mains – detail material may have to remain off of the beam in order for the fabricator to orient the main member prior to fitting.
o Organize pieces for repetitive activities (i.e., truss connection material, embed plates & angles, etc.)
· Bring in and spread main members
o Bring in material by batch
o Only bring in the amount of material that will fill an available space – a batch may take several moves to fully bring into the shop.
o Track pieces as they come into the shop – assist in determining that all of the materials have been moved to the fabrication shop
· Move materials in the shop
o Assist fitters and welders to roll or position beams as necessary
o Assist painter to move materials to the paint field as necessary
o Assist fitters to rearrange work bucks as necessary to fit special cases (i.e., trusses)
· Protect the constraint
o Fitting and/or welding should be the constraint for the vast majority of situations. Assist to maximize the throughput through the constraint.

Additional Responsibilities
· Ability to read and interpret Structural fabrication drawings.
· Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
· Use of judgement to plan, perform, and make decisions as to the sequences of set-ups, operations, and processes within the limitations of recognized or standard methods and procedures.
