Position Summary

The QC/QA Manager oversees all quality-related functions in our glass fiber textile manufacturing facility. Leading a small team of (2-3) quality assistants or technicians, this individual ensures consistent quality checks from incoming materials through final product release. This role requires not just maintaining quality records but taking ownership of root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and implementing systematic improvements. The QC/QA Manager will also serve as the primary contact for in-house non-conformance issues and customer quality claims.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership
  • Manage and mentor a team of quality assistants/technicians.
  • Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring timely inspections, lab testing, and proper documentation.
  • Provide ongoing training to maintain and elevate quality standards.

Quality Assurance & Control

  • Develop and refine QA/QC processes to meet or exceed industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Oversee incoming goods inspection and chemical lab testing to confirm raw materials comply with specifications.
  • Conduct regular audits along the production line to verify adherence to established quality protocols.

Non-Conformance & Customer Claims Management

  • Investigate and manage internal non-conformances, ensuring prompt resolution and preventive measures.
  • Serve as the point person for customer quality complaints, coordinating cross-functional teams to execute root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Maintain clear and proactive communication with customers regarding quality concerns and solutions.

Continuous Improvement

  • Transition quality operations from reactive issue-tracking to a proactive, data-driven approach centered on root-cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Engineering teams to identify opportunities for process optimizations and long-term solutions.
  • Lead or support improvement projects aimed at enhancing production efficiency and reducing quality defects.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Ensure accurate recording of inspection results, test data, and corrective action plans.
  • Analyze quality metrics, compile comprehensive reports, and present findings/recommendations to senior management.
  • Keep quality manuals, procedures, and work instructions up to date.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Engage with various departments (Production, Engineering, Sales, R&D) to align quality goals with broader organizational objectives.
  • Support new product introductions or process changes by providing quality-focused insights.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3-5 years in a QC/QA role, preferably in textile, composite, or chemical manufacturing.
    • At least 1-2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and root-cause analysis techniques (5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, etc.).
    • Competency in statistical analysis and quality data interpretation.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for managing teams and collaborating across departments.
    • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
    • Detail-oriented with solid organizational and time-management skills.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience with composite materials or textile manufacturing processes.
  • Certification in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or other quality systems.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional improvement initiatives and lead change effectively.
