Job Title: Inside Sales Representative

Reports To: Regional Sales Operations Manager West

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Based in Atlanta Georgia, SAF is a leader in the architectural metal products market with six operating locations in Georgia, Indiana, Tennessee, California, and Texas. For more information about SAF see our website at www.saf.com. SAF is a family-owned and managed company 75 years strong. We distribute, fabricate, and finish (anodize and paint) aluminum and other products primarily for the commercial construction market.

SUMMARY

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have strong listening skills, good organization, be able to build a rapport and communicate effectively with all customers by phone, e-mail, or in person, prepare quotations, and receive orders for finishing, fabrication, sheet, and extrusion. Keeps information up to date in the Enterprise database and provides excellent customer service to keep customers satisfied. Collaborate with other members of the sales and operations teams by sharing information and thereby helping each other grow and gain experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Monitor incoming customer inquiries on ZenDesk and prepares quotes in line with SAF standards for quick turnarounds. Must be highly motivated to produce large amounts of quotes.

· Handle all inquiries for scheduling, changes, questions, and issues after-order has been entered.

· Solicit the sale of new or additional services. Contact customers regarding the status of jobs and try to close the sale.

· Manage large jobs as necessary.

· Inspect incoming metal for quality and verify prices are adequate.

· Candidate will work closely with the production team to ensure shop orders proceed correctly. Meets in person regularly with the production team to brainstorm best practices and troubleshoot issues. Some problems must be handled on the shop floor.

· Provide technical support for a complete spectrum of SAF's products and services.

· Share Information with others in on-site team meetings and help the organization reach its goals by being an active, on-site participant and contributor.

· Artful in adjusting customer expectations and in managing risks associated with the manufacturing and finishing of metals.

· Resolve complaints concerning products, billing, or service rendered, entering complaints into the company database. This position is authorized to issue credits up to $500 per incident to resolve complaints.

· Keep records of customer interactions or transactions. Record details of inquiries, complaints, or comments, as well as actions taken.

· Recommend improvements, changes, or new techniques and procedures. Innovate using process thinking and continuous improvement. In-person meetings with other sales staff and production leadership are necessary for this innovation to take place.

· Due to the intense need for onsite collaboration this job must be done at SAF’s Facilities. Collaboration should emphasize SAF’s vision to serve, share, and create for customers, co-workers, and other SAF Stakeholders.

· Be flexible: perform various other duties as required by your supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS – requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

· Applicant must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent.

· Applicant must have at least 3 years of experience in a sales environment. Education can be considered in lieu of experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Inside sales experience in an industrial or related work environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS - Candidate must be able to communicate effectively with groups inside and outside the organization. Must score 5 or better on the ACT WorkKeys Assessments for Reading for Information. Other language skills include:

· Ability to read and interpret production instructions and workplace graphics such as detailed engineering drawings, blueprints, safety rules, schedule reports, part drawings, forms, tables, graphs, or diagrams:

o Summarize information from one or more detailed graphics.

o Identify trends shown in one or more detailed or complicated graphics.

o Compare information and trends from one or more complicated graphics.

· Ability to read, and write routine reports and correspondence in English using:

o Author narrative reports via email and use our SharePoint forums.

o Understand acronyms, paraphrased definitions of technical terms, and industry jargon.

o Apply technical terms and jargon and relate them to new situations.

o Apply complex instructions that include conditionals to situations described in the materials.

o Interpret and apply company policies and safety regulations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Must score 5 or better on the ACT WorkKeys Assessment for Applied Mathematics.

Examples of daily tasks include:

· Decide what information, calculations, or unit conversions to use to solve the problem.

· Look up a formula and perform single-step conversions within or between systems of measurement. For example, convert centimeters to inches.

· Calculate using mixed units (e.g., 3.5 hours and 4 hours 30 minutes).

· Find the best deal using one- and two-step calculations and then compare results.

· Calculate linear dimensions, perimeters, and areas from fabrication drawings calling on Algebra or Geometry skills.

· Calculate percent discounts or markups.

GENERAL SKILLS AND REASONING ABILITY

Must actively look for ways to help people and be able to persuade others to change their minds or behavior. Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

The employee is occasionally required to remain in a stationary position and move around the office area and other locations.

The employee must occasionally maneuver and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, and assess the material and finished product.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. All SAF facilities are tobacco-free.
