Position Title: Maintenance and Facilities Supervisor

Department: Operations

Reports to: Production Manager

Location: Bremerton

Shift: Day Shift

Day: $64K – 90K DOE

Position Summary: This position plans, directs, and oversees facilities, maintenance, and custodial operations for SAFE Boats International’s Bremerton campus. Overall responsibility for the preventative maintenance, repair, and upkeep of machines (machine readiness), mechanical equipment, and motorized vehicles. Oversees maintenance and repairs of the building itself, ensuring the facility inside and out is in good repair, safe, and clean. Responsible for staffing, training, scheduling, and performance management of a small team. In addition to leading this team, this role is a player/coach and will perform the same duties as the members of his or her Team.

Primary Responsibilities-

  • In collaboration with the Environmental, Health, and Safety Department, helps to ensure SAFE Boats is providing a SAFE work facility for Team Members and is compliant in all safety and environmental laws.
  • Implements, maintains, and manages a preventative maintenance program for tools, equipment, and machines
  • Prioritizes work that needs to be completed to meet the needs of the business
  • Documents work performed and communicates to necessary departments/parties
  • Creates, maintains, and manages work orders, leader standard work, and weekly work plans
  • Arranges and acts as POC for outside vendors, service providers, and agencies related to facilities, maintenance, and machine readiness
  • Creates and oversees budget (with related departments) for capital expenses & annual operating expenses for the department. Accountable to/for meeting approved budgetary spending.
  • Creates, captures, and analyzes data. Reports information to others during MPR’s (Managers Performance Reviews) and other meetings.
  • Leads facilities/maintenance meetings and discussions and represents his/her department at Operations meetings
  • Plans and oversees movement of major equipment and tools, including boats in production up until customer delivery
  • Leads and participates in loading and unloading of boats and containers and boat movements in general
  • Leads and conducts rough terrain crane operations
  • Leads, conducts and supports pull testing events
  • Supports engineering team with underway testing
  • Coordinates and oversees transfer and movement of tools, equipment, machines, and materials to and from Bremerton and Tacoma, in collaboration with Tacoma Facilities and Maintenance Leadership.
  • Works closely with and shares resources with Tacoma Facility and Maintenance Leadership to maximize efficiencies and productivity for the whole organization
  • Maintains relationships with and communicates regularly with Property Management at the Port of Bremerton as needed to ensure landlord’s responsibilities are being met as related to building and property repair and upkeep.
  • Pro- actively identifies, conducts, and/or supports the troubleshooting and repair of production equipment from basic welding machines to heavy equipment and complex machinery and vehicles, performing both electrical and mechanical work
  • Recognizes improper tool function and takes corrective action with safety in mind
  • Performs load testing – including placement and use of chain binders, chain falls, load cell/dyno meter, lifting swings, ratchet straps, winches, blocks
  • Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing device.
  • Moves items and equipment, trailers, pallets, carts, jigs, etc.
  • Operates a variety of vehicles (CDL License a plus)
  • Transports and loads out a variety of items including parts, equipment, furniture, building materials, etc.
  • Assists with facility related efforts such as loading of boats, load testing, sea trails with other departments in the organization
  • Operates cranes, forklifts, scissor lifts, and other machinery
  • Conducts general facility tasks such as painting, office/furniture moves, minor misc. repairs, hose repair, minor plumbing repair, yard maintenance, etc.
  • Performs minor electrical repair and maintenance on wall switches, outlets, sockets & ballasts
  • Removes rubbish and recycled material throughout the production facility as needed
  • Restocks paper products and cleans facility restrooms as needed
  • Completes tasks within expected timelines with quality outcome/results
  • May perform janitorial, landscape, and basic construction tasks to meet the needs of the business
  • Identifying staffing needs, recruiting, training, and performance management of a small team (1-3)
  • Identifies additional resources as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Skills And Experience Required

  • Three years or more of experience working in a facilities and maintenance department in a manufacturing

environment.

  • Two or more years of experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and conducting minor repairs on tools, machinery, and equipment
  • Two or more years of experience Supervising others
  • Advanced skills and experience operating forklifts, heavy equipment. Experience safely operating large cranes strongly desired.
  • Able to read and interpret basic technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
  • Basic Math/tape measure reading skills
  • Clean driving record
  • Computer skills including Outlook and Word, software programs related to equipment maintenance and capabilities a plus
  • Experience creating and generating industry relevant reports
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Experience successfully leading meetings and presenting information to others
  • Must be organized and able to prioritize with follow-through to completion of tasks
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with a variety of people, such as Managers, Team Members, guests, vendors, and customers.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift to 40 lbs. without assistance
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to complete tasks
  • Must be able to work at heights and/or confined spaces
  • Must be able to operate a forklift and scissor lift
  • Ability to drive and maneuver large equipment, including driving large trucks.
  • Position requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Must be able to spend most of a workday outdoors in a variety of conditions

Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Some college courses and/or industry certifications preferred
