Why we need you and what you’ll be responsible for:
With over 2,500 boats currently operating in the field, SAFE Boats is looking for an addition to our exceptional customer support team. This position will provide outstanding support to our boat owners/operators to ensure their SAFE Boats are operational for their missions. You would be responsible for conducting service and repair work on SAFE Boats products, frequently (up to 75% of the time) in the field. You will troubleshoot issues, engage other teams/departments for support and resolution, and resolve to meet or exceed customer expectations.
What you will be doing-
- Reviews scope of work prior to work beginning to ensure necessary information has been gathered and/or ordered to ensure jobs come in on time and on budget.
- Works with travel coordinator to arrange travel to and from the job within contract and budget requirements
- Travels to a wide variety of locations, sometimes on short notice, to perform jobs
- Professionally interface with public, private, military, and law enforcement customers worldwide to provide the highest level of service in the field.
- Familiarizes themselves with the type of boat being worked on, research's information that could be helpful to the successful completion of the job
- Performs complex systems integration tasks in a wide variety of environments, often with limited resources in challenging climates
- May perform other tasks based on candidate capabilities (basic systems tear outs and installations, collar repairs or replacements, for instance)
- Problem solves and improvises technical work using tools and materials available in the field.
- Creatively problem solves issues and comes up with solutions that work for the customer and the company.
- Communicates customer requests, changes, concerns and questions back to Customer Support Director and their Supervisor/Manager
- Maintain accurate records and reports of all customer interactions.
- Completes Sit Rep reports daily while in the field.
- Facilitates and oversees project wrap up documentation and checklist once work is complete, requests Customer Satisfaction Feedback to measure performance.
- Exercises good judgment as it relates to both personal and business financial decisions related to service work.
- Conducts oneself and communicates professionally while on and off duty while travelling on behalf of the company.
- Aware of and sensitive to cultural protocols, customs, and requirements based on travel regions and customer preferences
- In between field service, in-house service, and warranty jobs, will join an existing boat building team on the production floor to help with new boat builds
Skills & Experience we are looking for:
- Experience travelling, ideally internationally, preferred
- Ability to travel to a wide variety of foreign and domestic locations for extended periods of time
- Ability to be a self-starter with excellent customer service skills, a strong work ethic, and the social compatibility necessary to be deployed from home for prolonged periods.
- Time Management – Able to manage one’s own time and complete work within quoted hours.
- Communication - business level ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Computer Skills- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word required. Experience in Salesforce, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint preferred.
- Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Financial Responsibility- Must be able to operate within the budgetary restraints of a given contract, task, or assignment without putting SAFE, yourself, or others at risk.
- Strong background in marine electrical and component installation and repairs
- FST will have a minimum of three (3) years in small craft technical experience.
Technical proficiency in at least one of the following areas AND willingness to learn, develop skills, and acquire industry certifications in others required:
- Engine diagnostics and repair required, OEM certifications/training/experience preferred
- Electronics & electrical systems installations and repairs
- Collar installation and removal (preferred)
- Experience in troubleshooting and repairing generators, HVAC, navigation systems, engines (Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, others) is desirable.
- Shipyard Competent Certification strongly desired.
- ABYC or other industry certifications highly desired.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to pass government background investigation to obtain a Common Access Card
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Passport
- Holds a valid driver’s license and able to drive a SBI company vehicle or be insurable on the company policy.
- Willing to travel with minimal notice
- Willing and able to work in a wide variety of weather and conditions.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires use of hand and power tools, operating equipment, forklift, office equipment, using ladders, grinders, table saws and other similar equipment. Also requires reading, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability, and visual acuity. Lifting objects without assistance up to 40 lbs. may be required. Ability to work in extreme temperatures and environments.
Education Requirements:
- High school graduate.
- Trade school certifications or college level training is highly desirable
- ABYC (American Boating and Yachting Council) certifications strongly desired
