Position Purpose:
The Family Coach Supervisor is the key leadership role taking end-to-end operational oversight of all the Safe
Family engagements via volunteer family coaches.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety oversight of SFFC program implementation

  • Responsible for supervising, training and supporting Family Coach and Host Family volunteers on all aspects of the hosting process, including being available on an emergency, on-call basis.
  • Ensures Family Coaches help parents set goals and efficiently work to fulfill those goals.
  • Responsible for quality of client care: to plan, develop, and administer programs such that basic, developmental, and therapeutic needs of clients in care are met.

Supervision and training for SFFC volunteers as well as interns

  • Responsible for completing home studies and interviews of all host families and coaches; tracking/reporting information related to recruitment, training, and certifying volunteers; approve/deny volunteers***
  • Consult with Intake staff/Director of Development on referrals, determine program “fit” and match to host family, and assist with establishing hosting arrangements including transportation, and placement of children into host family homes and other supportive services with Safe Family volunteers.
  • Develop and implement training for volunteer coaches and ongoing training for Safe Family volunteers and parents .
  • Assist in the connection of Safe Families volunteers, local churches, and community members.

Development and maintenance of relationships with referral sources

  • Assist in promoting community relations and program publicity which includes: outreach to community service providers . Maintain effective relationships with church representatives and community agencies.
  • Participate in networking with local community resource providers to create a referral base and resource network . Collaborate with County personnel .

Participate in chapter functions and continuing professional development

  • Maintain current knowledge pertaining to Safe Families family coaching; continue professional development through seminars and conferences.
  • Participate in all Safe Family staff functions, weekly meetings, supervision, fundraising activities and other promotional events.
  • Participate in quality assurance/quality improvement activities.

*** These responsibilities are carried out in conjunction with the program manager and church engagement personnel.
Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following areas: Social Work;
Ministry; Psychology, Education, Nursing, or related social service field.

2. Experience working with at-risk children and families. Must be willing and able to support the mission.
3. The ability to schedule one’s time, to work autonomously, and communicate effectively while working with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
4. Must provide their own transportation and are willing to transport children as needed.
5. Willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Desired Qualifications:
1. Previous supervisory experience, including recruiting, training, and mobilizing large groups of volunteers.
2. Public speaking and collaborating experience in a variety of settings including child welfare, faith communities, and collaborative networks.
3. Have an understanding of and implement health and safety responsibilities.
4. Ability to prioritize, work under pressure, and be flexible responding to a changing environment.

The applicant must submit a criminal background check, a child abuse and neglect screening, submit fingerprints and maintain a cleared status throughout employment. The applicant must have a clear motor vehicle report in order to transport children or families.
Hours per week: 40, full time
