What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer/Planner position at Safe Fleet?
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The buyer/planner procures, releases, plans, controls and issues, the necessary orders, schedules and requirements necessary to supply and support the manufacturing activities for Elkhart Brass. These activities may involve, but are not limited to, obtaining raw materials, parts, tooling, services and supplies, and scheduling/issuing internal and external manufacturing orders to support the production plan. In addition, the buyer/planner may be called upon to obtain supplies and services to support the needs of the office and support staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reduce purchase part lead time
Own transaction between EB and select vendors. Streamline or eliminate process by which we send out components that return to us as subassemblies
Expedite Purchase Orders
Enter Purchase Orders and Requisitions
File maintenance both paper and electronic
Supplier Quality Notices to vendors and returns
Maintain visibility of overdue jobs; analyze and develop recovery schedules.
Releasing work order to shop floor to support production plan.
Processes scrap transactions and generates weekly reports.
Process transactions from Assembly Department.
Coordinates, schedules and expedites the delivery and movement of material for some outside processes.
Perform checks and audits of scheduling rules while interacting with other departments to make changes and improvements to these rules to improve the manufacturing system and on time delivery performance.
Monitors and analyzes schedules to assure on time delivery.
Resolves problems utilizing acquired knowledge and analytical abilities.
Processes orders and demand messages in a timely manner.
Effective communication with operations team to ensure timely product delivery in a cost effective manner.
Provides additional support to the department as needed.

Education
Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience
Preferably, two (2) years of experience in a Materials role; or
Two (2) plus years in a manufacturing environment with direct interface with scheduling and following orders
Authorized to work in the US on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
