Safe Fleet® and its partners design and manufacture state-of-the-art, automated tarp systems for the heavy-duty trucking industry serving the Construction, Agriculture, Waste, Recycling, and Over-the-Road markets. Our systems efficiently and reliably contain and protect payloads, create a safer working environment for drivers, and maximize return-on-investment by increasing revenues and reducing the cost of ownership.
The Manufacturing Engineer reads and analyzes blueprints or sketches to design and construct products for new and legacy product offerings. Will design and fabricate gages, jigs and fixtures; and operates CAD / CAM programming software. When required, the position operates machines to test and secure parts made using necessary gauging tools. Create and maintain the documentation needed for products and processes. Support the daily business with root-cause problem solving and innovative. Use lean manufacturing methodologies to improve lead-times, quality, and cost by removing waste and increasing value to our customers. Priorities include process improvement, problem resolution and project management. Lean, Continuous Improvement knowledge, Kaisen and A5 training and practices are highly sought in this manufacturing-process oriented role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Core duties and responsibilities include the following :
- Responsible for CI Project selection, Project Management and successful implementation of A5 processes satisfying company labor reduction targets.
- Well versed in Lean Manufacturing concepts
- Value stream layout and continuous flow experience.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Support all Kaizen activity.
- Support all 5S initiatives on the Manufacturing Floor.
- Support all Safety initiatives and Engineering Solutions aimed at improving employee safety.
- Engage with Engineering Team on PPAP process documentation.
- Utilize robust project management tools that enable effective product launch through all phases of the product and process development and integration stages.
- Sufficiently interface with customers and suppliers to develop working knowledge of products and processes.
- Use working knowledge of customers and suppliers to develop design concepts into marketable products which may be modified to specific customer usage.
- Support company profit goals by demonstrating a sound knowledge of engineering methods enabling improved designs that improve material utilization or improve manufacturing throughput (DFMA).
- Collaborate with quality, engineering, and shop floor personnel to create, modify, and maintain all standardized work, work instructions, and determine critical part features and key process controls.
- Display working proficiency of related CAD software and other company directed software.
- Provide direct project support as assigned for new projects and meet all customer and internal timelines through the effective use of engineering and project management tools.
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
- Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Performs other related tasks assigned by the Operation Manager.
COMPETENCIES : To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies :
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : This position has no supervisory responsibilities. This position will at times oversee project scheduling and prioritization.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS : This position may require some quarterly travel opportunities supporting Safe Fleet CI initiatives and Kaizen events.

Salary Range $65,000-74,000 USD Annual
