What are the responsibilities and job description for the Valve Technician position at Safe Harbor Marinas?
Safe Harbor Rybovich is seeking motivated Entry Level Valve Technicians to grow in the fast-paced yacht repair industry. This position performs shipboard removal, cleaning, disassembling, assessment, repair, testing and reinstallation of various types of marine valves onboard the vessel. Will train the right candidate. Marine experience is a plus but not required
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Troubleshoot, test, and repair various valves, including but not limited to ball valves, gate valves, globe valves, butterfly valves, safety relief valves, etc.
- Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, measuring, reassembly and testing of valves.
- Light rigging or lifting with chain falls, chain hoists, slings or hydraulic jacks.
- Follow all schematics and documented procedures in accordance with all Quality Control and marine class standards that apply to the job.
- Thoroughly complete all calibration and documentation associated with testing and repairs.
- Communicate timely updates to supervisors, to ensure timely and successful completion of job responsibilities.
- Works closely with co-workers, management, and safety coordinator to ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
- Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
- Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area.
- Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
TECHNICAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with repairing various valves and actuators.
- Proficient with the use of hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
- Problem Solving – Identifies, communicates, and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information. Works well in group and individual problem-solving situations.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Imperial and Metric.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schematic form.
- Frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs.
