Join the energetic team of Safe Harbor staff committed to serving individuals, families, and the community impacted by the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault.

DESCRIPTION:  Focused on the development and execution of our primary prevention education programs.  This position will provide outreach and prevention education to the community within Sheboygan County.  The focus will be on K-12, Higher Education, and Community Events.

Must be able to model and promote attitudes of non-violence, anti-oppression, inclusiveness, and power-sharing in all facets of position responsibilities, especially when working with community partners.  Be an outspoken voice against violence against women and children, teen dating violence, sexual assault, rigid gender roles, and norms of masculinity within the community through conversation, trainings, social media, and one-on-one conversations.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Support Safe Harbor's primary prevention education model utilizing a public health primary prevention model - facilitate outreach and education that is evidence-based and evidence-informed. 
  • Empower students and youth to become active bystanders and healthy communicators by modeling, teaching, and practicing interrupting hateful or bullying behavior. 
  • Engage and empower students and youth in violence prevention and encourage and assist them with youth-led violence prevention education projects amongst peers.
  • Help students and youth evaluate their own lives, relationships, and culture that supports ending violence through research and evidence-informed curriculum and activities. 
  • Provide training and information to youth influencers - school administrators, counselors, clubs, teachers, and parents - about teen dating violence, sexual violence, interpersonal violence, primary prevention, and adequate school response. 

Administration

  • Maintain and compile service documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain inventory of program supplies and community outreach materials.
  • Attend all staff meetings and board meetings as requested.
  • Identify, research, and evaluate prospective program materials based on needs and available funding sources. 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field preferred (Social Work, Public Health, Education), or non-degree equivalent relevant experience. 
  • Ability to work sensitively with traumatized populations and to handle crises effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to multi-task and be thorough in activities and responsibilities.
  • Excellent judgment, and an ability to exercise discretion and tact in difficult or confidential situations.
  • High degree of flexibility and the ability to problem solve and make decisions individually and within a team.
  • Ability to communicate articulately and interact comfortably and effectively with staff, funders, board, community partners, and governmental agencies.
  • Ability to work with both youth and adults with a commitment to and experience in working with people from diverse cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds and lifestyles.
  • Ability to engage teens and young adults in time facilited conversations and learning activities.  
  • Technologically Savvy:  position requires use of audio-visual equipment, click remotes, polling devices, PowerPoint, Canva, and Prezi.
  • Driver’s License and clean driving record required.
  • Bilingual a plus

Compensation & Benefit Details: 

  • This part-time position, 24 hours/week, is grant-funded through June 30, 2025. 
  • PTO, Personal, Sick, Floating Holidays
