JOB SUMMARY
Provides on-going advocacy and post-crisis support services for nonoffending parents/caregivers located in Yates, Ontario, and Seneca County who have experienced domestic and family violence, child abuse, and sexual violence. Conducts client needs assessments, makes referrals to other victim services, and connects clients with community resources. Provides trauma-informed advocacy, maintains case documentation, and supports clients with various needs. Educates clients about eligibility for the Office of Victim Services, advocates in family court, and ensures compliance with laws and policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide long term support services to nonoffending parents/caregivers of our child advocacy center and other child clients.
- Conduct assessments of client needs in collaboration with the Child Advocacy Specialists.
- Work with 15 to 20 clients at any one time.
- Provide trauma informed advocacy services by assisting clients with safety planning, goal planning, connecting with mental health services, and providing consistent follow up services.
- Assist clients with family court petitions and the family court process including custody, visitation and family court orders of protection.
- Assist clients with compensation applications to the NYS Office of Victim Services.
- Maintain professional communication with the child abuse multidisciplinary team and assist in communicating case updates as needed with victims and caregivers.
- Make mandated report calls to NYS Child Abuse Central Registry and law enforcement as needed.
- Provide child advocacy staff with case progress to report at Child Abuse Review Team meetings and attend Child Abuse Review Team meetings as needed.
- Provide coverage on our 24-hour youth crisis hotline.
- Participate in outreach activities and agency awareness events to promote services and increase community engagement.

- Performs additional duties as assigned by management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- A High School diploma with experience working with vulnerable populations is required, while an Associate degree in human services with the same experience is preferred.
