Job Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal functioning and safety of our facilities. This position involves performing a variety of maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and the ability to work independently, work with a diverse population, ensuring that the agency’s physical property is maintained in such a way as to ensure all residents and staff enjoy a safe, clean and accessible living and working environment while providing excellent customer service .
Duties
1. Ensure full integration of facilities operations and safety plans into program/client services
2. Work with agency management to assess and maintain the facilities in proper working order, identify issues and determine what needs to be repaired taking into consideration pertinent safety considerations and regulations
3. Plan and execute maintenance and repair projects to minimize negative impact/disruption to residents and staff
4. Clean and maintain facilities, equipment, sidewalks, parking lots and driveways to keep in working order, free from debris, snow, ice and garbage
5. Document maintenance and repair tasks
6. Interact with clients in a trauma-informed manner with sensitivity, tact and professionalism
7. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with CGS 52-147k and the agency’s confidentiality policy
8. Assist in additional agency operations as requested
9. Regularly inspect buildings, systems, and equipment for issues
10. Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests
11. Assist with client moves, furniture deliveries and pickups as needed
12. Ensure trash has been curbed on appropriate days
13. Perform related duties as required and/or deemed necessary
14. Work with outside vendors to complete larger repair project coordination and completion
15. Must be reliable
Experience
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in troubleshooting various systems.
- Be able to lift, push, pull, and exert force
- Have working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
- Ability to work and relate to a teamwork setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Previous experience providing custodial, maintenance and/or repair services .
- A background in customer service will enhance interactions with facility users.
- Must pass a criminal background and child abuse background check.

Pay: $20.53 - $21.45 per hour
