Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Peer Recovery Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in providing peer support to individuals facing addiction and mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will leverage their personal experiences and training to foster hope, resilience, and recovery in others. As a Certified Peer Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in guiding clients through their recovery journey while promoting empowerment and self-advocacy.
Duties
- Assist person served with identifying, creating and implementing a person-centered recovery plan.
- Identify and develop methods to assist with removing barriers to recovery.
- Provide information and referral to person served in need of addiction and recovery services.
- Recruit, engage, and support organizations and person to be provided peer recovery support services.
- Promote the value of the full range of substance use treatment and recovery support services throughout the county/state.
- Provide one-on-one support to individuals experiencing mental health or addiction challenges.
- Facilitate group sessions that promote recovery-oriented practices.
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage clients in setting and achieving personal goals.
- Assist clients in navigating healthcare systems and accessing necessary resources.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to support clients during critical moments.
- Collaborate with mental health professionals to develop individualized care plans.
- Mentor clients in developing coping strategies and life skills for sustainable recovery.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and progress.
- Promote the value of the full range of substance use treatment and recovery support services throughout the county and state.
- Provide support that focuses on multiple pathways of recovery that support the person served goals and direction.
- Facilitate, and support, recovery gatherings/meetings.
- Outreach and network with the community
- Complete other duties assigned by Peer Recovery Leed or other leadership staff.
Experience
- Certification as a Peer Specialist is a plus.
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation for county and /or statewide travel
- No conviction for sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, or related offenses
- Familiarity with crisis management systems and techniques is beneficial.
- Knowledge of motivational interviewing practices will enhance client engagement.
