Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Weekend Advocate to join our team. This role is essential in providing support and advocacy for victims/ survivors in need. The Weekend Advocate will work closely with families, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and assistance during critical times. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, a background in social work or related fields, and a commitment to serving victims of domestic and sexual abuse.
(Note: We are open to turning this position into 2, so if you are available to work every Saturday or every Sunday, or work every other weekend, we welcome you to apply)
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and advocacy for victims facing crises.
- Assess needs and connect them with appropriate resources and services through the hotline and in person when possible.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to assist residential clients in distress
- Maintain accurate documentation of interactions and services provided.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers, healthcare providers, and law enforcement when necessary.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills in conflict management, crisis management, and child protective services.
- Stay informed about relevant laws and policies affecting victim advocacy.
Requirements
- Formal education in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Experience working with children and families in crisis situations.
- Understanding of child welfare systems, family law, and behavioral health principles, or willingness to learn.
- Excellent conflict management skills with the ability to de-escalate tense situations effectively.
- Ability to remain calm in crisis situations.
- Ability to work independently while also being an effective team player.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
- Flexibility to work weekends as required.
