Position Summary
Perform a variety of assigned tasks required for the support of shelter clients and agency services. Answer crisis calls and texts including evaluating immediate needs making appropriate referrals. Perform duties to support shelter safety and functions. Provide all assistance in a trauma-informed and voluntary services manner. Understand and support Primary Prevention work of the agency. In all actions, uphold the Vision, Mission, and Values of Safe Passage to create a work environment that is safe, peaceful, healthy, and respectful where everyone is supported in becoming their personal best.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Client Services:Perform initial screening and admission process for shelter clients. Respond to Rape Crisis line calls and DV Crisis-line calls and texts, providing safety planning, resources, and appropriate referrals. Provide in person advocacy through safety planning, DV/SA education, life skills classes, and assisting clients with individual case management needs as assigned by the Team Lead(s), and Empowerment Specialists. Provide programming and activities for children in shelter and support the Growing Assets Center. Provide client transportation and accompaniment to appointments as needed.
Shelter Services: Perform various tasks and projects relating to shelter support needs. These may include, but are not limited to, monitoring the security system and shelter access in compliance with security procedures; emergency responses; thorough case-noting and other necessary entries in the Client Track data management system; maintain schedule for sanitation, meals, laundry, and curfew; proficiently maintain all shelter logs; maintain client files, shelter forms, and reports; assist with facility maintenance and cleaning; donation processing; volunteer support and supervision.
Miscellaneous: Observe proper state regulations regarding shelter functions. Attend and participate in all required staff meetings. Remain aware of appropriate training opportunities and maintain required training hours. Maintain professional conduct and ethical boundaries. Perform other duties as assigned by agency supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
· Minimum of high school degree or GED.
· Degree in human services, Child Development, or related field preferred.
· Work experience in social services preferred.
· Leadership, organizational skills, and basic computer competency required.
· CPR Certification required. Valid driver’s license and auto insurance with specified coverages as noted in the Employee Handbook.
