What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinarian position at Safe Place for Animals?
Safe Place for Animals is seeking a compassionate and experienced full-time or part-time Veterinarian to provide comprehensive medical care to our vet clinic’s established and growing client base, as well as our shelter animals. Our vet clinic specializes in small/companion animals.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Examine, diagnose and prescribe/treat illness, disease and injury
- Annual/routine wellness and health status exams and care
- Administer vaccinations and implant microchips
- Conduct diagnostics (blood, urine, fecal, etc.)
- Prescribe and dispense medication
- Sedation, anesthesia and perform general surgery to include: spay and neuter, dental procedures, growth removal, etc.
- Euthanasia
- Advise/consult pet owners on nutrition, preventive healthcare and general pet care
- Record actions by documenting and updating forms, reports, client/patient records
- Ensure compliance with veterinary procedures, ethics, policies and relevant statutes
Qualifications:
- DVM, licensed to practice medicine in the state of TN
- Ability to complete full medical work-ups and perform surgery independently

Safe Place for Animals’ vet clinic provides high quality, affordable veterinary care to the public, and also includes an animal rescue shelter/pet adoption center and a grooming salon.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
Ability to Relocate:
- Gallatin, TN 37066: Relocate before starting work (Preferred)
Work Location: In person
