We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Building and Housing Inspector to join our team of professionals. This position offers great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of work assignments. Job Requirements
- Perform field inspections during various stages of construction
- Read and examine plans and specifications when required
- Report violations and maintain files/records
- Perform other related duties as required
- Extensive knowledge of local building codes and current construction procedures/technology
- Interpretation of codes in the field and ability to provide code compliant solutions
- Must possess the ability to positively interact with the other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental entities, and other clientele
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good time management, organization, and attention to detail skills
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment
Candidates must possess one of the below combinations
- ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification AND (2) of the below ICC Certifications:
- B1 - Residential Building Inspector Certification
- M1 - Residential Mechanical Inspector Certification
- E1 - Residential Electrical Inspector Certification
- P1 - Residential Plumbing Inspector Certification
- The ability to obtain ICC's Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification within twelve (12) months of entry into the position AND (3) of the below ICC Certifications:
- B1 - Residential Building Inspector Certification
- M1 - Residential Mechanical Inspector Certification
- E1 - Residential Electrical Inspector Certification
- P1 - Residential Plumbing Inspector Certification
- The ability to obtain ICC's Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification within twelve (12) months of entry into the position AND (3) of the below ICC Certifications:
- B2 - Commercial Building Inspector Certification
- M2 - Commercial Mechanical Inspector Certification
- E2 - Commercial Electrical Inspector Certification
- P2 - Commercial Plumbing Inspector Certification
- 3 years of inspection experience required
- Expert knowledge of ICC codes and District of Columbia Municipal Regulations, Title 12, local amendments required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record required
