Insurance Compliance Manager

SafeLease is transforming the self-storage industry, and insurance plays a vital role in our mission to protect and empower operators. We're seeking an Insurance Compliance Manager to ensure our insurance operations remain compliant, efficient, and effective. This role involves managing compliance requirements, maintaining licensing, and supporting the development of key insurance processes. As a key contributor to SafeLease's insurance team, you'll ensure that our products meet regulatory standards and operational excellence. This is a hybrid role based in downtown Austin, Texas.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure compliance with state insurance regulations, including gathering and maintaining up-to-date requirements for marketing materials, brochures, and operational guidelines.
  • Oversee the licensing and renewal process for insurance products, company registrations, and individuals as needed.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance programs and training materials for internal and external teams and partners.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, ensuring all communications and filings are timely and accurate.
  • Monitor and report on state and federal regulatory changes, providing recommendations to ensure continued compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop compliant insurance policies, endorsements, and certificates.
  • Maintain and organize documentation related to insurance programs, licenses, filings, and regulatory correspondence.
  • Analyze and refine operational processes to improve efficiency and align with compliance standards.
  • Conduct audits and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
  • Support payment processing, including data entry, reconciliation, payment application, and investigation and resolution of payment discrepancies or errors.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with insurance companies / payors to verify benefits and submit and track authorizations.
  • Update / enter partner demographics, guarantor, and insurance information in company systems.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from insurance companies, partners, and internal team members.
  • Work collaboratively with the Operations, Finance, and Accounting departments.
  • Manage timely responses with quality deliverables and documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of partners and the business.

About You

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in property and casualty insurance, compliance, or a related role.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance regulations and licensing requirements, with experience working across multiple states preferred.
  • Highly organized, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in insurance systems and tools, with strong analytical skills to assess and refine compliance processes.
  • Effective communicator who can build relationships with internal teams, regulatory agencies, and external partners.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, with a hands-on approach and a passion for operational excellence.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AINS, CPCU, or similar) are a plus but not required.
