Position Overview:
As the Youth Prevention Specialist, you’ll be at the forefront of creating and delivering evidence-based prevention programs aimed at youth and adults. Your work will empower individuals with knowledge on sexual assault, domestic violence, and healthy relationships. You will partner with schools and community leaders to expand prevention efforts, offer advocacy from a trauma-informed and culturally responsive perspective, and contribute to a variety of community engagement events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prevention & Education: Deliver primary prevention and educational programming around sexual assault, domestic violence, and healthy relationships for youth and adults.
- Community Collaboration: Build and maintain strong partnerships with schools and community leaders to enhance prevention efforts in the community.
- Survivor Advocacy: Provide trauma-informed advocacy to survivors of sexual assault, with a focus on social justice and cultural responsiveness.
- Event Planning & Coordination: Organize and host community functions and awareness events throughout the year.
Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- At least one year of experience in crisis intervention, survivor advocacy, or related fields.
- A clear understanding of the root causes of sexual and domestic violence.
- Strong problem-solving and prioritization skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with coworkers and community partners.
- Access to reliable transportation, valid WA driver’s license, and automobile liability insurance.
- Experience with public speaking and working with youth and young adults.

Work Schedule:
- Regular Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
- While school is in session, you may need to lead weekly 2-hour meetings one evening per week.
- Occasionally, you may be required to attend outreach or promotional events during evenings or weekends.
- All staff are required to be on call for occasional 24-hour shifts as part of the Sexual Assault Response Program (SARP).
