Job Summary
Manages a team of Claims Supervisors and Examiners. Ensures prompt, effective, and courteous handling of all claims to policy holders and claimants with special emphasis on complying with appropriate guidelines.
Duties and responsibilities
- Leads and supervises a team of Claims Supervisors and Examiners, ensuring their adherence to company policies, efficient claim handling, and regulatory compliance.
- Develops and implements strategies for evaluating property claims and provides comprehensive guidance and settlement authority to property claims adjusters, ensuring consistent quality and compliance.
- Directs Open and Closed File Reviews, assessing overall operational effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending procedural changes to enhance efficiency and service delivery.
- Oversees and manages loss, loss adjustment expenses, and loss reserves, ensuring that all financial aspects of property claims are handled accurately and in line with company goals.
- Recognizes and directs the handling of complex claims, developing appropriate claims strategies, coordinating resources, and providing leadership to adjusters to drive timely and fair settlements.
- Researches, interprets, and applies policy language and state laws, ensuring compliance with current regulations while maintaining operational effectiveness.
- Manages and resolves high-priority special cases and problem claims, addressing policy coverage issues beyond the authority of the claims staff, and ensuring decisions align with the company's best interests.
- Collaborates with senior leadership to develop and refine departmental policies and procedures, setting clear strategic goals and objectives for the team and aligning with broader organizational initiatives.
- Fosters clear, effective communication across internal departments (Underwriting, HR, Finance, etc.), as well as with external business partners, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet organizational needs and deliver superior customer service.
- Cultivates a high-performance team culture, building an efficient team that delivers exceptional, consistent customer service while continually striving for process improvements.
- Mentors and supports professional development of team members, providing guidance on growth opportunities, setting performance objectives, and creating pathways for career advancement.
- Monitors departmental performance metrics and works proactively to achieve organizational goals, ensuring that all claims handling and settlements align with business objectives.
- Takes on special projects and cross-functional initiatives, ensuring the team is aligned with company-wide priorities and contributing to organizational growth.
