Construction Safety Specialist - Dallas
General Summary
Safety Consultants USA, Inc. is looking for a Construction Safety Specialist who prides themselves on their ability to work with clients to help them understand safety requirements on the jobsite and coach employees on safe work practices. Through effective inspections, training, coaching, program implementation and consultation this person will impact safety on jobsites for a variety of construction trades including general contractors, specialty contractors, subcontractors and those working in adjacent fields. The ideal candidate will have a desire to learn about other industries we serve and how general safety standards can be applied across the many companies we serve.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect construction sites and company properties to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and promote incident prevention.
- Conduct safety incident investigations and prepare associated documentation and reports.
- Conduct safety training on all construction-related safety topics, including fall protection, rigging & signaling, confined spaces, scaffolding, excavation & trenching, forklifts, MEWP, OSHA 10 & 30-hour, and others.
- Provide risk assessment of construction activities to evaluate safety hazards and offer solutions to conduct work safely and efficiently.
- Evaluate contractor operational practices/equipment for safety compliance.
- Prepare job hazard analyses, PPE hazard assessments and other site-specific documentation.
- Conduct toolbox meetings on-site for clients.
- Participate in OSHA inspections at client jobsites
- Prepare reports with corrective actions following site inspections for prompt delivery to the client.
- Participate in meetings with clients regarding safety initiatives, strategic planning for safety, safety committees, and job start-ups.
Education/Experience Requirements
- 5 years of experience in the health and safety field.
- Must be an OSHA 500 Train the Trainer
- Local travel to job sites is daily.
- Out-of-town travel is required (up to 30%), will be home on weekends.
- Ability to be flexible for workday start time – early mornings are sometimes required.
- Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, emergency response and incident management.
- Must have excellent writing skills.
- Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Must have excellent customer service skills necessary to interact with client’s senior level management, field employees, OSHA, and administrative staff.
- Effectively utilize company technology and software to support business operations.
- Must be able to pass a drug test and a background check.
- Be able to work as an individual contributor and as a team member.
- The chosen applicant must be an organized, self-starter, flexible to change in schedule, able to work independently and with minimum supervision.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates preferred.
