SMG seeks a local Safety Advisor – General Industry in Tucson, AZ.
The key function of a Safety Advisor is to put safety at the forefront of their job, prioritize the client’s needs, work well in a team setting, be self-managed, and be flexible to changing work tasks and active environment. The Associate in this role will work in a manufacturing environment. Some construction and renovation projects may occur intermittently.
Overview of Job Responsibilities
- Site safety observations, including documentation of findings
- Review contractor firms' status in the contractor management system and report to stakeholders regarding approval status,
- Conduct contractor prequalification through the designated system.
- Provide routine virtual and onsite contractor orientations.
- Develop safety reports on leading and lagging indicators and maintain a safety dashboard (including hours, observations, incidents, and orientation attendance).
- Provide safety training to employees upon request, using company-provided content for internal training and separate materials for OSHA training if not provided.
- Collaborate with the safety team to review and update programs/procedures based on current OSHA regulations and industry best practices (e.g., Contractor Handbook, prequalification process, site orientation).
- Conduct job site safety observations, document areas for improvement and positive behaviors.
Requirements
- Three plus years of General Industry safety experience
- A degree in safety or related fields is preferred
- First-aid/CPR certification from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
- OSHA 510/511
- CHSO cert preferred
