Safety Management Group, a nationally recognized professional service organization, seeks an experienced Safety Professional to join its team in Mt. Vernon, Indiana.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be able to prioritize client needs, work well in a team setting, and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Respond promptly to EHSS incidents involving third-party contractors, including incident reports, pictures, witness statements, and other relevant documentation.
- Communicate effectively with field personnel and management to resolve EHSS and Life Saving Rules violations, which may involve deciding to stop work.
- Conduct daily or project-based safety audits, inputting and tracking findings to closure.
- Support the contractor safety leader with root cause analysis (RCA), 5-why methods, and other quality control initiatives.
- Serve as backup for TCON (badge system) and orientation programs.
Requirements:
- A degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required; comparable work experience is also acceptable.
- A minimum of three years' experience in plant or construction-related environments, preferably with a focus on construction safety.
- Experience with OSHA 500/501 training, industrial chemical construction, and relevant regulations such as 29 CFR 1926, 1910, and 1904.
- Knowledge of rigging, scaffolding, fall protection, crane operation, and other large construction equipment.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in office software applications.
Physical Demands:
- Moving long distances, ascending/descending stairs and ladders, remaining stationary for extended periods, working in extreme weather conditions, and being exposed to loud noises are all aspects of this role.
