Job Summary
The Certified Peer Recovery Supporter (PRS) is a key member of our team, providing non-clinical, peer-based support to individuals recovering from substance use and mental health conditions. By leveraging lived experience, the PRS offers guidance, encouragement, and resources to help clients build self-sufficiency and maintain long-term recovery.
Responsibilities
- Provide peer-based support and mentorship to individuals in recovery.
- Share personal lived experiences to offer hope and motivation while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Assist clients in navigating mental health and substance use treatment resources.
- Support individuals in developing personalized recovery action plans and identifying strengths, goals, and coping strategies.
- Facilitate peer-led support groups and wellness activities to promote skill-building, empowerment, and self-advocacy.
- Utilize Motivational Interviewing and other evidence-based techniques to enhance engagement in recovery.
- Offer crisis support and intervention, connecting clients with emergency resources when necessary.
- Advocate for clients, ensuring they have access to essential services such as housing, employment, and healthcare.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions in compliance with organizational and regulatory policies.
- Collaborate with clinicians, social workers, case managers, and community partners to provide comprehensive support.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Peer Recovery Supporter (PRS) in Ohio (or eligibility to obtain certification).
- Must have active drivers license.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Lived experience with mental health challenges and/or substance use recovery with at least two years of sustained recovery.
- Strong knowledge of local mental health and addiction recovery resources.
- Experience in mentorship, advocacy, or support services is preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to diverse populations.
- Ability to handle crisis situations professionally and de-escalate conflicts when needed.
- Must adhere to confidentiality and ethical guidelines in peer support services.
Additional Information
- This is a contracted, fee-for-service position.
- Safety-Net Therapeutics provides services to individuals with substance use and mental health disorders, including those registered as sex offenders.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
